After Bartın University was established with the Law No. 5765 dated May 22, 2008, the School of Physical Education and Sports was affiliated to the Rectorate of Zonguldak Karaelmas University, but its name and connection were changed and it was affiliated to the Rectorate of Bartın University. After the School of Physical Education and Sports was established on 26.01.2010, the Coaching Education Department was established in 2012.

With the Presidential Decision published in the Official Gazette dated 17.04.2019 and numbered 968, Bartın University School of Physical Education and Sports was deemed appropriate to continue its academic activities under the name of Faculty of Sports Sciences.

In our faculty, 54 students were admitted to the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching in the 2011-2012 academic year, and education began. In the 2012-2013 academic year, the Department of Coaching Education (1st Education and 2nd Education) and the Recreation Departments (1st Education and 2nd Education) were opened in the 2014-2015 academic year, and students began to be admitted to this department. As of the Fall Term of the 2016-2017 academic year, students have started to be admitted to the Department of Sports Management with the 1st article of the Senate Decisions numbered 29/12/2015-19.

Programs offered in our faculty consist of Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department, Recreation Department, Coaching Education Department and Sports Management Department.
