BARÜ Men's Rugby Team for becoming the Turkish Champions

The Bartın University (BARÜ) Men's Rugby Team became the champions in the Rugby University League Turkey Final Competition organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF).

The BARÜ Men's Rugby Team, which had finished second in the championship in 2022, surpassed all their opponents this year to become the champions. Established in 2016 under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ender Eyuboğlu from the Faculty of Sports Sciences, the Rugby Team achieved the championship under the management of Yusuf Sarıçan, a graduate of the Coaching Education Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and also a master's student at the BARÜ Graduate Institute of Education.

In the competition held at the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) in Ankara, the BARÜ Men's Rugby Team remained undefeated in the group stage and advanced to the final by eliminating Hitit University in the quarterfinals and Ondokuz Mayıs University in the semifinals. In the final, they faced Koç University and became champions with a clear score of 31-0.

Additionally, Kerim Cömert, a student from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at BARÜ, was selected as the most valuable player of the tournament by the organizing committee in the Final Competition organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF).

Congratulating the BARÜ Men's Rugby Team on their achievements, Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said, "We make intense efforts to prepare our young people, who will add value to our future with all our facilities, including sports, health, technology, and infrastructure. We provide education with competent academic and administrative human resources in various branches with the goal of being influential in sports. With the momentum we have gained, we contribute to the development of our country and add new achievements to our success in the field of sports with each passing period. With these thoughts, I express my heartfelt thanks to our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ender Eyuboğlu, our student Yusuf Sarıçan, and all team members for their achievements, especially our Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bilal Demirhan, who exerts great effort as a striving force in strengthening our future through sports."
